Disney always loves to celebrate the Holidays and Thanksgiving is no different. The video I have for you on this fine holiday is the Thanksgivings Day Parade featured at the Magic Kingdom. The parade has your favorite characters, as usual, with some festive creatures thrown into the mix with some fall music. The parade is to welcome the President’s pardoned turkey to the park as that is where it will stay for the rest of its pardoned life. Disney’s latest ride, and the first of its kind, is surprisingly located in Downtown Disney. The new Characters In Flight lets you climb aboard a large, helium filled balloon that will lift you into the air up to 400 feet. If you’ve ever wanted to go on a hot air balloon ride, Characters in Flight is your chance, just minus the hot air! After boarding the balloon your captain will raise it up and on a good day the balloon goes to a maximum of 400 feet. You can see many parts of Disney World when at the maximum height such as the entire Downtown Disney, Epcot and parts of Hollywood Studios. If you love heights Characters in Flight is for you as its double the height of Expedition Everest. Below is a video of the balloon lifting off and the view from the top!

Once located in Epcot’s Mexico Pavillion, the El Rio del Tiempo boat ride, also known as the River of Time, took passengers along a boat ride through Mexico. As of 2007 this version of the ride was removed and replaced with the Gran Fiesta Tour. Since the ride was actually rather good, I felt I should post it anyway and soon the newer version will also be here on Disney World Video. The ride took you through a strolling tour of Mexico, showings it’s beaches and party atmosphere. It was somewhat like Small World in nature but had it’s own flavor as it housed both animatronic and projected video, making for a very fun mix. The tune was also very catchy as well! Since it’s been gone for a few years all we have left of El Rio del Tiempo is the video ride through. Enjoy!

Every Christmas Disney lets the Osbourne family, no not THOSE Osbounres, invade the Hollywood Studios Streets of America to string millions of Christmas lights, 5 million to be exact. They fill the entire area from top to bottom in Christmas spirit and this year they’ve turned things up a notch. Now all of the lights “dance” to the music being played in the area, making one amazing light show. The story goes that the Osbournes had to buy their neighbors home to allow their light display grow. When Disney Imageniers saw they show they asked the family to move their show to the Hollywood Studios, where they’ve been stringing lights ever since. Starting in 2007 Disney World’s famous Cinderella Castle is decorated for Christmas. During Mickey’s Merry Christmas Party in the Magic Kingdom the castle comes alive with dazzling icicles strung throughout the spires. Of course its just not that simple as Disney puts on a show every night to turn on the lights. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald all argue on how to decorate the castle when the Fairy Godmother appears to help make the decoration real. She decides that Cinderella will choose, as it is her castle after all, and in the end she chooses the icicles. And so icicles it is and the castle is lit, shining brightly with several icicles.

One of the largest and fastest water slides in the world sits right in Disney World’s melting water park: Blizzard Beach. On Summit Plummet you climb several stairs to reach the top of the 120 foot water slide. As you sit down for the drop it looks almost straight down and it feels like it too! As you whoosh down the slide you go through a small cavern like area but its only for a split second. Since the ride reaches a top speed of 55 mphs it feels as if your ride is over in only a few seconds. It’s one amazing ride and somewhat scary as well as it feels like you are flying in mid air! Summit Plummet is not one you want to miss if visiting Blizzard Beach but for now you can check it out in our Digital Disney park!
