In Disney’s Animal Kingdom you can experience a simulated example of environmental destruction. The ride begins as you board a raft to drift down “Kali River”. As the boat spins and the speed picks up, you can enjoy the nice scenery and the cooling drench from the waterfalls and guiseres that get you soaking wet. The ride is not your average rapid ride though as Disney threw in a “message”. Half way through the scenery quickly changes from lush forest to destruction and fire. The heat from the fire surrounding you is very warm and you see fake trees and an oil tanker “on fire”. It’s one of the more shocking elements of the ride but a bigger shock is yet to come. As you gently go up a hill lift you realize there is only one way down. Following the lift your raft immediately plummets down hill, resulting in a huge splash and most likely everyone getting wet. Kali River Rapids is a great way to cool off while in the Animal Kingdom and also a nice lesson in environment destruction.
