Soarin

Posted under Epcot & Soarin

A couple of years ago Disney World grabbed its own version of Soarin’ from California and it now sits in Epcot. On Soarin’ you are taken on a “hang gliding” ride through sights, sounds and scents of California. As you board your seat you aren’t fully aware of what is going to happen as the lights dim and you are raised high into the sky and closer to a giant screen. The film then begins and it actually feels as if you are gliding around California! Not only do you see some of the great sights but a fully immersive experience awaits as you can smell the oranges in the orange groves and many other elements as well. Soarin’ is an amazing ride that will take your breath away each and every time you ride. Rumor has it that Disney will someday update the Walt Disney World version’s video to fit some other theme then California. But for now you can watch Soarin’ in all its glory below!

Kali River Rapids

Posted under Animal Kingdom & Kali River Rapids

In Disney’s Animal Kingdom you can experience a simulated example of environmental destruction. The ride begins as you board a raft to drift down “Kali River”. As the boat spins and the speed picks up, you can enjoy the nice scenery and the cooling drench from the waterfalls and guiseres that get you soaking wet. The ride is not your average rapid ride though as Disney threw in a “message”. Half way through the scenery quickly changes from lush forest to destruction and fire. The heat from the fire surrounding you is very warm and you see fake trees and an oil tanker “on fire”. It’s one of the more shocking elements of the ride but a bigger shock is yet to come. As you gently go up a hill lift you realize there is only one way down. Following the lift your raft immediately plummets down hill, resulting in a huge splash and most likely everyone getting wet. Kali River Rapids is a great way to cool off while in the Animal Kingdom and also a nice lesson in environment destruction. The video below gives a personal feel to the ride as well as all the great elements it entails.

Central Disney Video Upload Service

Posted under Website News

I am currently thinking of creating a website where anyone can upload Disney World/Land videos and share them with a larger, Disney based community. The format of the website would be similar to YouTube but themed for Disney fans. You could upload videos directly to the website, share them, embed them and it would also contain social networking features such as blogging and photo sharing. So please fill out the poll below and let me know your thoughts by leaving a comment!

Rock N’ Roller Coaster

Posted under Hollywood Studios & Rock N Roller Coaster

Rock N’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is one of the fastest rides in all four parks and the only to take you upside down. Located next to the Tower of Terror in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the experience begins before even entering the coaster seats. As you wind through “G-Force Records” you feel like you are entering a real life music studio and get the shock of your life when Aerosmith stands “right in front of you”. It’s really a huge TV screen built into a studio but it sure is realistic! After getting whisked away to their gig, Steven Tyler announces that everyone in the studio gets a backstage pass to the concert. Only problem is its across town, traffic is crazy and you need a super stretch limo to get there! That’s where the coaster comes in. Once you are locked into the seat the “super stretch limo” rockets over 60 miles an hour. Sending you upside and speeding “across town” all in the dark while classic Aerosmith sounds are blasted into the seats. It’s one amazing experience and I know, from first hand experience, that the front seat really is the best seat on this wild ride!

Illuminations: Reflections of Earth

Posted under Epcot & Illuminations

On the Epcot World Showcase Lagoon, Disney holds one of its largest fireworks display. Spanning the entire lagoon the fireworks fill the entire park and several fire torches dance to the music all around. The show isn’t just all about the fireworks but also about the Earth. About half of the show is projected onto a floating globe where images from all around the Earth are shown. It’s an amazing site to see how they pull it all off. The fireworks display is able to be seen throughout the entire park and there really is no bad spot to view them from. Not only does the Lagoon play a role but the entire countries in the World Showcase as well. At one single moment all the countries come to life with glowing lights that you would just never expect. Below is the entire fireworks display shot in HD. Watch and be amazing by this piece of Walt Disney World Magic.

Carousel of Progress

Posted under Carousel of Progress & Magic Kingdom

Disney’s Carousel of Progress is one of those classics you just can’t miss when going to the Magic Kingdom. The ride takes you on a journey through the decades and the progress that ensued. Each “revolution” takes you to a different time period and you learn about how technology increased along with a catchy tune. After watching the video I’m sure you’ll be singing right along. The Carousel of Progress is located in the Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrow Land. You may miss it if you aren’t familiar with the area as it isn’t highly publicized and looks rather run down. But take a ride on the Carousel of Progress, a digital ride, and remember why you love the show so much! Remember it’s a great big beautiful tomorrow!
